100 Years of the Los Angeles Philharmonic

Bel Air Investment Advisors (Bel Air), in conjunction with the firm’s Senior Managing Director Jack Suzar, a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s (LA Phil) Board of Directors, presented an exclusive behind-the-scenes event that provided concert-goers an insider view of the magic of the iconic institution’s centennial celebration. The 100th-season opener celebrated Los Angeles with Salonen’s breakthrough work, featuring Beethoven solos with philharmonic principals, and concluding with L.A.-based composer and winner of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award, Andrew Norman.

The friends of Bel Air in attendance enjoyed a pre-concert reception and discussion with Chad Smith, chief operating officer of the LA Phil.

The season’s kick-off concert, conducted by Dudamel andfeaturing the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Martin Chalifour on violin, Robert de Maine on cello, and Joanne Pearce Martin on piano. The program opened with Esa-Pekka Salonen's LA Variations continued with Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C major, Op. 56, and closed with Andrew Norman’s world premiere, Sustain, brought to life with generous support from Lenore S. and Bernard A. Greenberg.
