Bel Air Investment Advisors hosted From Burgundy to the Bay, an experiential evening celebrating entrepreneurship in the Bay Area in California by connecting consumer and technology entrepreneurs and investors with pioneers in fine wine, dining and culinary arts.
The event featured Chef Kyle Connaughton and Head Farmer Katrina Connaughton of SingleThread, a Healdsburg-based restaurant that boasts two Michelin stars, Relais & Chateaux accreditation, and recipient of the Miele One to Watch 2018 awards. The duo prepared, presented, and shared their culinary talents and stories with the group.
Paired with SingleThread’s dinner was vintner Olivier Bernstein, who’s historic meteoric rise in the winemaking Burgundy region has, in just a decade, put him on the map as a permanent and critically-acclaimed fixture. Bernstein produces an array of seven grands crus and three premier crus from some of the most exalted vineyard sites in Burgundy. His presentation brought together French elegance with the California palette in a memorable way.
Framing the entire event on a delicate, elegant, and gorgeous culinary canvas was the organizer Maria Nguyen, founder of The Art of Plating, who has devoted her entire career to the exhibition of gastronomy as a form of high art. Her presentation welcomed guests with a breathtakingly immersive dinner that welcomed Autumn in Sonoma with a centerpiece created by Kyle Connaughton and Katina Connaughton and masterful plating process documentation by Maria.
The event was created by Bel Air Investment Advisors as part of its ongoing Conversations series that connects clients and partners with memorable experiences related to culture, arts, business, lifestyle, and more.
